Michigan Repossession Laws

For all Michigan residents considering a repo, we have compiled a detailed resource, which provides all of the relevant repossession rules and regulations of the state’s repo recovery methods.

For a repossession to happen in Michigan, it is good to understand the interests which must be shown on title belonging to the borrower. Additionally, license plates must remain with the borrower also. And, repossession is only allowed when there is not a disturbance of the peace. More so, license registration details can be attained by contacting the Michigan Bureau of Motor Driver and Vehicle Records at (517) 322-1460. A certified copy of security agreement, title in lien holder’s name, and an affidavit of repossession are also required for liquidation.
